About This Project
- Doe Mountain Forestry Project is located on over 8,500 acres of forestland in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northeastern Tennessee. The project area is home to 40 rare, threatened, and endangered plant and animal species. It is also home to oak-hickory, cove forests and oak-pine trees as well as healthy populations of deer, turkey, and black bears.
- Forests in this region have historic and ongoing threats from heavy, high-grade logging and parcelization due to the need for income generation in a region with limited economic opportunities. Very few wildlife conservation opportunities remain.
- The Doe Mountain Forestry Project seeks protect the forest by generating income from carbon credit sales and recreation like hiking and mountain biking, preventing the need for income from timber harvest or parcelization.
- By maintaining forest CO2 stocks above regional levels, the project provides significant climate benefits through carbon sequestration as well critical protection of a valuable ecosystem and the many animal species who reside there.

Sustainability Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. The SDGs build upon the earlier Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) but are broader in scope, encompassing a wide range of economic, social, and environmental issues. They provide a comprehensive framework for addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. This project has the following sustainability development goals that are displayed.
