Bonos Aroma Del Mayab

This project protects and restores 67,781 hectares of forest in Ejido Caoba, Quintana Roo, Mexico, through sustainable forest management, reforestation, fire prevention, and responsible timber harvesting. It is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified, ICVCM CCP Approved, and CORSIA Compliant, demonstrating its commitment to high-quality forest management and carbon credit integrity.

Managed by The Earth Lab, a Mexican project developer with deep local expertise, the project combines Improved Forest Management (IFM), Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR), ecosystem conservation, preservation of Mayan culture, and climate finance strategies aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Owned by 323 Ejido families, the project creates sustainable income for local communities while protecting habitat for diverse wildlife, including jaguars, pumas, ocelots, spider monkeys, white tailed deer, wild boar, and numerous bat species.

The carbon credits generated are removal based, with credits issued only for incremental forest growth rather than avoided deforestation. To ensure long term climate benefits, the project includes a 100 year forest stewardship commitment, a reversal buffer pool, and permanently protected conservation zones.
