Terrapass Welcomes Partner Torrance Learning

Terrapass is pleased to welcome our newest Carbon Balanced Business partner, TorranceLearning. TorranceLearning has balanced out the CO2 emissions resulting from its on-site energy use, business travel and employee commuting.

TorranceLearning creates custom e-learning and blended learning solutions for clients with unique or proprietary training needs. The company works with experts in a wide variety of fields to create practical and efficient training that is focused on key performance outcomes.

TorranceLearning conserves, recycles, powers down, and travels less often. Employees have flexible Fridays, which help to reduce commuting time. Besides providing green, web-based training, TorranceLearning insists on using sustainable means to work and communicate with clients. This includes utilizing reusable thumb drives to send course files, instead of large amounts of paper or difficult-to-recycle CDs. The business also works to reduce its environmental footprint within the office. Double-sided printing, green cleaning products, composting, and a full-scale recycling effort are just a few of TorranceLearning’s practices. The office has reduced its waste to less than one 13-gallon bag of garbage per week.

To improve employees’ knowledge of recycling at the office, TorranceLearning developed a short online course on their recycling practices. The course includes a short informational section and a quiz to test the learner’s knowledge. They see this as an effective (and green) method to communicate the importance of proper recycling in a fun way.

With the purchase of carbon offsets, TorranceLearning is able to balance its carbon footprint. Jen Vetter, TorranceLearning’s Instructional Developer, tells us that they “use Terrapass because it is a verifiable process with a calculator that takes the guesswork out of determining carbon emissions.”

Welcome TorranceLearning!
