About This Project

  • This project reduces carbon dioxide by increasing the storage of CO2 in the forest through reduced logging activity and increased natural forest growth.
  • The project is located on approximately 3,500 acres of Coast Range Forest immediately east of Arch Cape, Oregon. The area protected by this project is one of the largest privately conserved forests in Oregon. Coastal Edge is situated in an area with unique hydrologic and geological features, providing habitat for many of Oregon’s conservation priority species like the willow flycatcher, rufous hummingbird, peregrine falcon, band-tailed pigeon, northern red-legged frog, and Columbia torrent salamander.
  • This CORSIA compliant project uses revenue from carbon credit sales to acquire the project area and to manage the property for mature forests, water quality, carbon sequestration, wildlife habitat and passive recreation. Prior to its acquisition in 2021, the forestland was managed using industrial forest practices including short rotations, large clearcuts, and broadcast herbicide.

Sustainability Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. The SDGs build upon the earlier Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) but are broader in scope, encompassing a wide range of economic, social, and environmental issues. They provide a comprehensive framework for addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. This project has the following sustainability development goals that are displayed.
