About This Project
Orphaned and improperly sealed oil and gas wells leak significant amounts of methane, a potent greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. There are millions of potential orphan methane sources across 26 U.S. states in the form of defunct oil and gas well-heads that have no identifiable owners.
Zefiro Methane specializes in identifying, sealing, and reclaiming abandoned and orphaned oil and gas wells to reduce harmful methane emissions. Utilizing environmental monitoring, the company employs advanced technology to detect, measure, and track methane emissions. This project then conducts well plugging and remediation, cleaning up, and properly decommissioning leaking wells to prevent further environmental damage. Carbon credit sales provide the financial resources necessary for this project activity.
Additionally, its efforts contribute to community and economic benefits, improving air quality, creating local jobs, and mitigating long-term environmental hazards. The project currently operates at ACR959 Zefiro Methane OOG 1 – Drake, where it actively works on methane abatement and well remediation.
Sustainability Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. The SDGs build upon the earlier Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) but are broader in scope, encompassing a wide range of economic, social, and environmental issues. They provide a comprehensive framework for addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. This project has the following sustainability development goals that are displayed.
