About This Project
- Much of the cooking in Nigeria relies on firewood and charcoal burned in inefficient cookstoves, which can contribute to household air pollution, forest degradation, and greenhouse gas emissions. This project addresses these challenges by supporting the transition to more efficient charcoal cookstoves.
- The project manufactures and distributes efficient charcoal cookstoves to households and small and medium sized commercial businesses throughout Nigeria. These improved cookstoves are designed to use charcoal more efficiently than traditional stoves, helping reduce fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
- By providing more efficient cooking technology, the project supports thousands of families and small and medium sized businesses across Nigeria. More efficient stoves can help reduce the amount of charcoal needed for cooking while providing a practical alternative to inefficient traditional cookstoves.
- The project is registered under the Gold Standard and focuses on the manufacturing and distribution of efficient charcoal cookstoves that replace less efficient stoves currently used in Nigeria. For additional information, visit the project website or the Gold Standard project registry.
Sustainability Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all by 2030. The SDGs build upon the earlier Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) but are broader in scope, encompassing a wide range of economic, social, and environmental issues. They provide a comprehensive framework for addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable and equitable world. This project has the following sustainability development goals that are displayed.
